Hudson's Near Triple-Double Leads Toros to Game One Victory
Austin, TX April 11, 2013 - The Austin Toros (1-0) came out red hot as they took down the number one seeded Bakersfield Jam (113-107) in Thursday evening's first round playoff matchup at Cedar Park Center. Adidas player of the game Lester Hudson led the way for the Toros finishing the game just one rebound shy of a triple-double with 20 points, 10 assists and nine boards.
It was a full team effort for the Toros' as every player chipped in points on the night and five scored in double figures. The Toros defense played a big role, holding the Jam scoreless in the first seven minutes of the 3rd quarter and 13 points for the period. Chris Roberts led all Toros in scoring with 22 points from the bench. JaMychal Green and Rick Jackson each punched in double-doubles with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 15 points, 17 rebounds respectively. Jamarr Sanders rounded out double digit scoring with 14 points.
Diante Garrett, on assignment from the Phoenix Suns led the Jam (0-1) in scoring with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Former Texas standout Damion James contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists in his return to Austin. Renaldo Major added in 13 points and nine rebounds.
