Houston Dynamo Postgame Notes

Portland Timbers 4-2 Houston Dynamo

Saturday, March 18, 2017

TEAM NOTES:

- The Dynamo fell to 2-1-0 on the season, suffering their first loss of the season.

- The Dynamo fell to 0-1-0 on the road this season and saw their streak of five consecutive away matches without a loss come to an end.

- The Dynamo trailed for the first time this season when Portland MF Diego Valeri converted a penalty in the 11th minute. The penalty was awarded when referee Allen Chapman ruled that Dynamo DF DaMarcus Beasley was guilty of a handball on the edge of the Houston penalty area.

- Houston conceded the first goal of the game for the first time this year. The Dynamo conceded the opening goal 13 times last year and went 0-10-3 in those games.

- The Dynamo led at halftime for the third consecutive game. Houston fell to 2-1-0 when leading at halftime this season and was 5-3-4 last year.

- The Dynamo had a season-high 41.4 percent possession in the game, surpassing last week's total of 39.6 percent in Houston's 3-1 win over Columbus Crew SC (3/11).

- Houston's six shots on goal were a season high, topping their total of five from the Week 1 win over Seattle Sounders FC (3/4).

- Portland's three goals in the second half were the most in a half by a Dynamo opponent since April 15, 2016 when the LA Galaxy scored three first-half goals in a 4-1 Dynamo loss, and the four total goals conceded were the most since that game.

- The Dynamo forward corps made their third consecutive start together. The forwards are the only position group (excluding GK Tyler Deric) that has utilized the same starting combination in all three games thus far in 2017.

- Five Dynamo players will represent their countries in FIFA World Cup Qualifying action next week: forwards Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto and midfielder Boniek Garcia for Honduras; defender Adolfo Machado for Panama; and defender DaMarcus Beasley for the United States.

DYNAMO STARTING XI (4-3-3):
