Houston Dynamo Midfielder Brad Davis Added to U.S. National Team

HOUSTON (Thursday, October 10, 2013) - Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis has been added to the U.S. national team roster by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Jamaica and Panama, it was announced today.
Davis will join the national team in Kansas City today following the Dynamo's Wednesday night match against Sporting Kansas City. He will be available for selection for the United States' upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Dynamo teammate Jermaine Taylor and Jamaica at Sporting Park on October 11 and against Panama at Estadio Rommel Fernández on October 15. Davis will then return to the Dynamo in time for their regular-season home finale against Red Bull New York on October 20. The United States is currently in first place in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying and has already clinched a berth in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Davis, 31, has earned eleven caps with the U.S. men's national team, including four appearances in the current World Cup qualifying round. Davis has four goals and eight assists in 23 games this season for the Dynamo. The St. Charles, Mo. native set a career high with eight goals in the 2012 regular season and recorded his fourth consecutive season with at least 12 assists. He was named an MLS All-Star for the sixth time this season and earned Dynamo team MVP honors for the fourth consecutive year in 2012.
The upcoming matches continue the final round of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Brazil. The top three teams will advance to the 2014 World Cup, with the fourth place team advancing to a playoff series against the winner of the Oceania region.
