Houston Dynamo midfielder Boniek GarcĂa, defender Jermaine Taylor named to national team rosters

HOUSTON (Tuesday, October 8, 2013) - Houston Dynamo midfielder Boniek GarcĂa and defender Jermaine Taylor were named to the Honduras and Jamaica national team rosters, respectively, for upcoming World Cup qualifiers, it was announced today.
GarcĂa has joined the Honduran national team camp in Honduras and will miss the Dynamo's home match against Sporting Kansas City on October 9. He will be with Los Catrachos for their World Cup qualifying matches against Costa Rica at Estadio OlĂmpico JosĂ© SimĂłn Azcona on October 11 and Jamaica at Kingston Independence Park on October 15. Honduras sits in third place in World Cup qualifying. GarcĂa will return to the Dynamo before their October 20 home finale against the New York Red Bulls.
Taylor has also already joined the Jamaican national team in Kansas City. He will be available for selection for Jamaica's World Cup qualifying matches against the United States at Sporting Park in Kansas City on October 11 and against Dynamo teammate Boniek GarcĂa and Honduras at Kingston Independence Park on October 15 before returning to the Dynamo. The Jamaicans are currently in last place in qualifying and have been eliminated ahead of the final two matches.
GarcĂa, 28, has featured in each of Honduras' 14 qualifying matches for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, scoring one goal. The Tegucigalpa native has earned 87 caps for Honduras. GarcĂa has tallied six goals and 12 assists in MLS play since joining the Dynamo in June 2012, including two goals and six assists this season. GarcĂa was named Houston Dynamo Players' Player of the Year in 2012.
Taylor has earned 73 caps for the Jamaican national team and provided an assist in the Reggae Boyz's last World Cup qualifying match, a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica. The Jamaican defender has started 25 MLS matches for the Dynamo in 2013, contributing one assist.
The upcoming matches continue the final round of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Brazil. The top three teams will advance to the 2014 World Cup, with the fourth place team advancing to a playoff series against the winner of the Oceania region.
