Houston Dynamo Face LA Galaxy Tomorrow in Return to Vierne

July 14, 2016 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Houston Dynamo FC News Release

The Dynamo have earned points in three of four road games under interim head coach Wade Barrett and will seek their first road win of the season tomorrow night. Houston is 3-1-4 in all competitions and has conceded just six goals in eight games under Barrett following a scoreless draw at Orlando City SC on Friday, the first road shutout this season.

Several individual milestones are in reach for Dynamo players tomorrow. MF Ricardo Clark can make his 250th career start in all competitions with Houston. He is second on the club list, trailing Brad Davis (302). MF Collen Warner can make his 150th career MLS appearance.

With a shutout against the Galaxy, the Dynamo would have three straight clean sheets in league play for the first time since July 21-August 3, 2012, when the club capped a five-game win streak and eight-game unbeaten streak with three straight shutouts.

The Dynamo will be without the services of captain DaMarcus Beasley after the left back underwent minor knee surgery earlier this week. Beasley's replacement is yet to be announced, but appears likely to come from the trio of MF Alex Lima, D Abdoulie Mansally and D Sheanon Williams.

The Galaxy have won their last two MLS matches, and are unbeaten in their last four and sit tied on points for third place in the Western Conference (7-3-8 record, 29 points). LA's star-studded attack, led by 2014 MLS MVP Robbie Keane (6 goals), Giovanni Dos Santos (team-leading 7 goals, 5 assists), Steven Gerrard (team-leading 7 assists, 2 goals), and Gyasi Zardes (4 goals, 5 assists), is tied for the second-most goals scored in MLS with 31.

The Galaxy defense features Ashley Cole (doubtful with a hamstring injury), Jelle Van Damme, AJ DeLaGarza and Robbie Rogers. Holland international Nigel de Jong is suspended for Friday's match and unavailable for head coach Bruce Arena.

The Dynamo return home to meet FC Dallas in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, July 20 at BBVA Compass Stadium, with general admission tickets starting at $20. Tickets for all matches are available at www.HoustonDynamo.com, by calling 713-276-GOAL or by visiting the stadium ticket office.
