Houston Aeros punch their ticket for the 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs

HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros have officially extended their season into the 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs tonight after earning a point in the 3-2 overtime loss to the San Antonio Rampage. This will be the Aeros seventh playoff run in eight seasons in the AHL and 13th playoff appearance in 15 seasons of existence. Dates and opponents are to be determined.

Aeros 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs ticket packages are discounted and on sale now by calling the Aeros front office at (713) 974-PUCK. Single game tickets are also on sale for games A and B, the first two contests hosted at Toyota Center, through the Aeros front office at (713) 974-PUCK, by calling (866) GO-AEROS, the Toyota Center Box Office, AEROS.com and select Randall's locations. The opponents, dates and times are still to be determined, and the action is guaranteed to be intense during the playoffs.

The Milwaukee Admirals have already won the West Division title and will host the #4 seed in the first round. The #2 seed will face the #3 seed to start the 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs. Houston can earn a No. 3 seed by recording two more points than Rockford in the final two days of the season. Rockford leads the Aeros by one point but only have one more game to play. The Aeros have two games to play for a possible four points.

Houston will conclude the regular season with two more against the San Antonio Rampage tonight and Sunday. The weekend includes one more home contest Sunday and the ZOOperstars! will be at Toyota Center. The team will take a road trip tonight to visit the Rampage. Fans can listen in on 1070-AM KNTH as Joe O'Donnell calls the game and the Aeros battle to gain position over the IceHogs in the playoffs.
