Houston Aeros playoff run begins tonight at Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. - The 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs begin tonight as the Peoria Rivermen host the Houston Aeros at 7:00 p.m. in the West Division Semifinals, a best-of-seven series. This is the Aeros seventh trip to the Calder Cup Playoffs in eight seasons in the American Hockey League. The Aeros and Rivermen will meet for the second time in the Calder Cup Playoffs. Houston swept the Rivermen in four games in the first and only playoff matchup during the 2006 division semifinals. This season, Houston and Peoria played eight regular season games, and Houston finished 4-3-0-1 and 1-2-0-1 at Carver Arena.
The Aeros will stay in Peoria for Game 2 on Friday night for another 7:00 p.m. meeting. Games 3, 4 and, if necessary, 5 will be played in Houston with exact dates and times to be determined. All games can be heard on 1070-AM KNTH or viewed on AHL Live with Joe O'Donnell calling the play-by-play.
Tickets for Games 3 and 4 of the Aeros first round are available by calling (866) GO-AEROS and by visiting the Toyota Center Box Office, select Randall's locations or AEROS.com. Playoff series ticket packages are discounted and only available through the Aeros front office at (713) 974-PUCK.
