Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

MIDLAND - The RockHounds scored eight times in their final three at-bats Friday night, upending Corpus Christi 10-4 at Security Bank Ballpark.

The Hooks (15-13) have lost four in a row for the first time this season.

Right-hander Akeem Bostick took over for Kyle Smith with Corpus Christi ahead 4-2 in the sixth. Midland mustered a double, walk and infield single to begin the frame. Bostick then yielded a shallow fly ball to center field, retiring Viosergy Rosa for the first out. After falling behind 2-0 to the next hitter, Andy Paz, Bostick (1-1) left the game due to injury.

The Hounds (15-13) then pounced for four runs on two singles, a sac fly and an RBI groundout off Eric Peterson .

Midland added two runs in each of the next two frames. Rosa's RBI double highlighted the output in the seventh, and a lead-off two-bagger by Richie Martin set up the eighth. Andrew Thome relieved Peterson to get the final two outs.

Smith authored an effective start for the Hooks, scattering two runs, three hits and two walks over five innings of work. The 24-year-old right-hander has fired nine innings of two-run ball over his last two assignments.

Corpus Christi jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to doubles by Drew Ferguson and Jon Singleton in the first.

The Hooks tacked on two more in the fourth. Trent Woodward coaxed a lead-off walk from Ben Bracewell . One out later, Jamie Ritchie doubled, and Alejandro followed with a two-run, two-bagger into the left-field corner.

Facing Kyle Friedrichs, Tyler Wolfe opened the fifth with his first Double-A hit, a single into centerfield. Antonio Nunez was next and placed an RBI triple down the left-field line. Nunez later left the game after being hit on the right hand by a pitch in the seventh.

The marker in the fifth was the only damage to Friedrichs (1-3), who struck out four in 3.2 frames.

Kyle Finnegan twirled two scoreless innings to finish the game.

Corpus Christi returns to Whataburger Field for an eight-game, nine-day homestand. Lefty Kent Emanuel (1-1) gets the ball for the Hooks in Saturday's opener. San Antonio (14-14) sends Brett Kennedy (1-1) to the mound.

The first 2,000 through the gates Saturday receive Alex Bregman Bobbleheads from Wigington Rumley Dunn & Blair. First pitch is 7:05 and gates open at 5:35.
