Houck, Hafner Lead Eagles Past Aces 6-2 Saturday

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Jackson Houck had a hat trick, Shawn St. Amant scored twice, and Lukas Hafner had 41 saves in his return to Alaska as the Colorado Eagles took down the homestanding Aces 6-2 Saturday night at the Sullivan Arena.

The win gives Colorado the first two games of the three-game series.

Matt Register got the Eagles off and flying with a 5-3 power play goal at 10:23 of the first period, followed by a Houck power play tally at 17:16.

Alaska outshot Colorado 15-10 in the period.

St. Amant at 7:15 of the second period and Houck again at 14:46 chased Alaska starting goaltender Kevin Carr. Houck victimized reliever Michael Garteig at 18:27 for his hattie before Pavel Laplante answered for the Aces with a shorthanded goal at 19:17 from Charlie Sampair.

Shots after two were 27-25 Eagles.

In the third period, Tim Coffman took a pass from Stephen Perfetto and buries his 17th goal of the season at 1:25 with another assist awarded to Tim Wallace.

St. Amant completed the scoring with his second goal of the game at 14:29 for the Eagles.

Shots were 43-36 Alaska.

Colorado was deadly on the power play, going 4-9. Alaska was 0-6.

Hafner is now 2-0 for Colorado after being released by Alaska and signed by the Eagles.

The two teams complete their three-game series Sunday afternoon at 3:05 Alaska time at the Sullivan Arena.
