Bowling Green had baserunners in all nine innings and banged out 14 hits to claim the series over the Snappers. Beloit finished the homestand with a 2-4 record, the first losing stay at home this season. The loss Sunday snapped the Snappers five-game winning streak in day games at home. The Hot Rods had baserunners in all nine innings. Beloit pitchers walked seven hitters despite entering the game with the second fewest walks in the Midwest League.
In the fifth inning, the Snappers sprayed three softly hit singles by Collin Theroux, Eric Marinez, and Mike Martin to load the bases. Nate Mondou delivered a two-run single that pulled Beloit within one run, 3-2, at the time. The Snappers couldn't score in the first inning with runners at second and third with nobody out. Theroux hit a lead-off double in the seventh but didn't make it beyond second base.
Snappers starter Dakota Chalmers labored for two innings, needing 55 pitches to strand the bases loaded in both innings he worked. Chalmers walked four and struck out three before he was lifted for Matt Milburn. Xavier Altamirano gave a home run to Mike Brosseau in the eighth inning, the second outing in a row he has allowed a homer. Outfielder Cole Gruber pitched the ninth inning for the Snappers, his second pitching appearance of the season and the fourth time a position player has been called to the mound for Beloit this year.
Luke Persico doubled and went 2-for-4 to finish the series 8-for-15 against Bowling Green pitchers. Mike Martin had two infield hits and finished the day 3-for-4.
