August 23, 2017 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Dayton, OH --- In the second game of a three-game series in Ohio and a ten-game roadtrip overall, the Bowling Green Hot Rods fell on the wrong side of a 11-1 defeat at the hands of the Dayton Dragons on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Field.

Continuing a winless strech when playing games in Dayton this season, the Hot Rods were held to just a run on five hits in six innings of one-run baseball from Dragons starter Andrew Jordan (W, 6-8) along with three scoreless innings of work combined by righty Jesse Stallings and lefty Jesse Adams.

Outfielder Emilio Gustave gave the Hot Rods their only run the game, plating catcher Rene Pinto on a RBI single in the fifth inning. That was the first run of the series for Bowling Green.

In six games at Fifth Third Field this season, the Hot Rods have been held to two runs or less in four of them.

For the Dragons, they took control of the game in the second inning, scoring six runs against Hot Rods starter Chris Pike (L, 4-5). The inning was highlighted by a two-run triple from outfielder Randy Ventura, a RBI double by infielder Hector Vargas and a trio of run-scoring singles from catcher Mitch Trees, outfielder Michael Beltre and infielder Carlos Rivero.

Beltre added to the Dragons lead in the sixth with a RBI triple and then scored on a RBI double in the eighth inning by Ventura.

Dayton scored their final three runs later in the eighth inning on a three-run homer by polarizing outfielder Jose Siri.

The homer for Siri was his team-leading #22 of the year, as he is the third player in Midwest League history with 20 or more homers and 40 or more stolen bases over the course of a season.

With the loss, the Hot Rods have now dropped four in a row after winning seven straight games. They have given up 45 runs in the last four games and have been outscored 23-1 in the first two games of this series with Dayton.

They have been held to just seven hits combined in the last two games.

The Hot Rods will continue a stretch of 10 road games in 11 days on Wednesday with the finale of a three-game set against the Dayton Dragons.

Bowling Green will send RHP Mikey York to the mound while Dayton will counter with RHP Matt Blandino.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. All games on the road for the remainder of the regular season will be played in eastern time.
