A Note From Quint Studer

A wonderful attribute about the Pensacola Pelicans and now the Blue Wahoos is that you, the fans, care enough to give us feedback and suggestions.

Going back to the days at UWF, the first idea I was sent was to put some material on the steps to prevent slips. The late Roger McDonald was a great wealth of suggestions. These suggestions can range for a promotion idea as this one I received. During the first homestand, an idea was brought to me to celebrate Kazoo's birthday. While you did not officially meet Kazoo till March of 2012 he was born right before baseball season on April 1, 2011. He just was too young and shy to introduce till March of 2012. Of course, the name Blue Wahoos came from a fan. We will be celebrating Kazoo's birthday on April 30th and hope you can join.

As I wrote in the last newsletter, these first games are getting the new team members on the staff the experience needed to provide great service. We have received better marks on the second homestand. Let us know if the many adjustments in the food service is creating improvements in the speed of service.

We have improved with the video board as well this second homestand. As you saw at the end of the homestand, the speed of the pitch is up there longer. We still need to get more experience on the use of replays. The staff is working hard to learn the new video board.

For season ticket holders who are members of the Better Homes and Garden/Main Street Properties Lounge, you are the next big focus. Matt (Director of Food and Beverage) and Nancy (Season Ticket Concierge), have plans to upgrade many aspects of the lounge. When you see them, share your ideas or send me your thoughts to Quint@quintstuder.com.

Regarding parking, we manage the one lot on the past ECUA site (corner of Main St. and De Villiers St.). All other parking lots are the city or private parties. This year, we are providing not-for-profits with a chance to raise funds with a variety of organizations are overseeing the ECUA lot. If you see any need to improve, let me know.

While we are always grateful for your ideas and constructive criticism, it is very helpful when you point out the positive items, especially staff that you want to see recognized. The staff appreciate it very much when we can pass along your kind words.

Thank you for your partnership.

Former Wahoo Update

Current Cincinnati Reds pitcher Wandy Peralta joins a list of Wahoo alumni who have ascended through the system and have found a home on a Major League roster. Wandy appeared in 42 games over two seasons in a Pensacola uniform and threw over 134 innings and recorded exactly 100 strikeouts. Peralta made his Major League debut on September 4th, 2016 against the St. Louis Cardinals where he pitched one inning, walked one, and recorded his first Major League strikeout.
