Peoria Rivermen News Release

The Peoria Rivermen were shutout for the third time in four games as the Milwaukee Admirals handed Peoria a 3-0 loss Saturday night in Carver Arena. Admirals' goaltender Jeremy Smith made 34 saves in his first shutout this season.

Peoria finished their season opening six-game homestand with a 2-3-0-1 record.

In the first period, Milwaukee spoiled their own power play with a too many men on the ice minor, but Mike Moore snuck a shot past Jake Allen during four-on-four play at15:09. It was Moore's first goal of the season and Michael Latta was credited with the assist.

Mark Van Guilder scored just 30 seconds into the second period after a pass ricocheted off of the corner board right in front of the net. The goal marked Van Guilder's third of the season and Latta was credited with another assist, giving him five for the year.

Down 2-0 in the final minutes, Peoria pulled its goaltender on a power play and gave up a shorthanded open-net goal to Chris Mueller. Mueller's goal tied him for Milwaukee's team lead at four, while Scott Valentine earned his second assist this season on the play.

Saturday's game marked Rivermen captain Scott Ford's first game against his former team, whom he spent the past four years with.

Although the Rivermen were held without a goal, they outshot the Admirals 34-23. Peoria went 0-for-6 on the power play while killing all four of Milwaukee's advantages. Jake Allen made 21 saves in the loss.

The Rivermen will travel to Charlotte for two games starting Thursday at 6 p.m. All games can be heard on CD Country 107.9 FM or online through www.rivermen.net.
