Hogs Seek to Stay Perfect against Griffins

HOGS SEEK TO STAY PERFECT AGAINST GRIFFINS

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford IceHogs look to remain undefeated against the Grand Rapids Griffins as the teams face off for the third time at the BMO Harris Bank Center Saturday night.

Matchup: The IceHogs (8-7-0-0, 5th Central) dropped their fifth game in six outings against Iowa, but have won both match-ups against the Griffins in 2017-18.

Forward Vinnie Hinostroza and defenseman Erik Gustafsson continue to lead the Hogs this season with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Gustafsson's 11 points are good for a share of fifth in scoring among AHL blueliners. Forward David Kampf notched his 10th point of the season in the Hogs' last game and has now cracked the top 10 in AHL rookie scoring.

Through two games against the Griffins, forward Anthony Louis paces the Hogs with 1g-2a-3pts, followed by Ville Pokka (3a) and Matthew Highmore (2g). Goaltenders J.F. Berube and Jeff Glass have each recorded a win over Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids (8-8-0-1, 6th Central) has won three of its last five outings, but fell 4-2 to the Iowa Wild last night. Forward Matt Lorito leads the team with 6g-8a-14pts, including two assists in two contests in Rockford. Turner Elson, Eric Tangradi and Dominic Turgeon are knotted with 11 points each. Tangradi's two goals against the IceHogs give him the team scoring lead in the series, while Matthew Ford follows with a goal and an assist of his own.
