Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Kitchener Rangers are once again proud to support the endeavours of Hockey Helps the Homeless Kitchener-Waterloo.

The third annual Hockey Helps the Homeless Kitchener-Waterloo Tournament takes place on October 28th at RIM Park. Building on the success from 2014 and 2015, this year's tournament is shaping up to be even bigger and better with 16 teams participating.

Hockey Helps the Homeless is a one day pro-am hockey tournament where individuals share the rink with former NHLer's and women's team Olympic gold medalists. Participants fundraise for local homelessness organizations and receive the full pro experience.

Women and men players 19 years of age or older and of all skill levels are required to fundraise a minimum of $500 before tournament day. Net proceeds will benefit YWCA K-W, House of Friendship, Lutherwood, HHUG, and oneROOF.

In the first two years, the tournament has raised $191,000. Because of the efforts of everyone involved in the K-W Hockey Helps the Homeless Tournament, the five local agencies supported were able to provide three people a night a safe place to stay in our community every night of the year in 2015.

Volunteers are always sought out to assist with the tournament, as well as silent auction items, donations, and sponsorship.
