Hitmen Win in OT, 3-2

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen extended their winning streak to a season-high three games with a 3-2 overtime victory over the Red Deer Rebels on Friday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Beck Malenstyn scored the game winner on a breakaway 2:02 into the extra frame. Matteo Gennaro had forced sudden death for Calgary, netting the tying goal with just over five minutes remaining.

Jakob Stukel rounded out the Calgary attack helping the Hitmen beat Red Deer for the first time in six tries dating back to the 2016 Western Hockey League Playoffs.

Hitmen goaltender Cody Porter also played a key role, not only making 34 saves, but adding two assists.

Red Deer, who received goals from Michael Spacek and Evan Polei, outshot the Hitmen 36-29.

Calgary, 11-14-2-0, now hits the road, visiting the Medicine Hat Tigers tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 10, before returning to the 'Dome on Sunday, Dec. 11, to host the Kamloops Blazers in a 4:00 p.m. start. Fans are reminded it is Sunday Funday, presented by Pocky, featuring carnival activities on the concourse and a post-game family skate at every Sunday regular season contest.
