Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club will select 16th overall when the Western Hockey League holds its annual Bantam Draft tomorrow, Thursday, May 5, at Hotel Arts in Calgary. Beginning with the first overall pick at 8:30 a.m., the draft can be viewed online with each pick posted as they happen at the bottom of http://prospects.whl.ca. The opening round will also be streamed for free, live on WHL.ca .
Calgary owns eight picks through the first seven rounds, including a pair of second-round selections.
The draft is an opportunity for WHL clubs to build their future teams with graduating bantam-aged players. The order of selection for the first round of the draft was determined through a weighted lottery consisting of the six non-playoff teams. The remaining draft order is based on the inverse overall standings from the 2015-16 regular season.
