Calgary, AB - Calgary product Reid Duke scored four times to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 6-1 victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Duke netted the first three goals of the game for his fifth career Western Hockey League hat-trick. James Shearer and Dmitry Osipov added singles for the Wheat Kings while Connor Gutenberg and Tyler Coulter both chipped in three assists.
Calgary outshot Brandon 32-22 with Wheat Kings goaltender Travis Child making 31 saves, including 13 in the first period.
Beck Malenstyn, with his 21st goal of the season, was the lone marksman for the Hitmen who lost for only the third time in regulation in the last 11 games.
The Hitmen, 18-22-7-2, open a three-game B.C. road trip Wednesday, Feb. 1 in Kelowna. It's then off to Langley to face the Vancouver Giants on Friday, Feb. 3 and Victoria to play the Royals on Saturday, Feb. 4. Calgary returns to the Scotiabank Saddledome to begin a three-game homestand and a stretch of seven of the next eight at the `Dome on Wednesday, Feb. 8 against the Regina Pats.
