Hitmen Begin Pre-Season Saturday

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is set to begin the 2013 Western Hockey League pre-season on Saturday, Aug. 31 at the seventh annual Edmonton Oil Kings Pre-Season Invitational in St. Albert, Alberta. The Hitmen recently held their 2013 training camp with over 120 prospects and veterans and currently have a 33-player roster that includes three goaltenders, 12 defencemen and 18 forwards.
The Hitmen will play a total of six pre-season games with the game originally scheduled in High River, Alberta now being played on Friday, Sept. 6 at the Tom Hornecker Recreation Centre in Nanton, Alberta. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop. Admission is free for children, $10 for adults and $5 for students with valid identification. All ticket proceeds will support local minor hockey player and coach development. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Alberta Marine in Nanton and will also be available at the door. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited.

Calgary opens their 19th WHL season on the road when the Hitmen visit the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday, September 20, with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop at Rexall Place. The Hitmen return to the Scotiabank Saddledome for the 2013-14 Adrenalin Source For Sports Home Opener on Saturday, September 28 when Calgary hosts the Red Deer Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Home opener pre-game festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Travelodge Fan Face-Off Party that features family-friendly activities and entertainment.
