RUNNING WILD: The Hillcats stole five bases as a team Sunday night, although only two ‘Cats contributed to that total...2B Levi Hyams took two and OF Matt Lipka snagged three...It was a season-high for the Hillcats...They had stolen four bases in a game once this season back on June 12, which was also against the Dash...It was in Winston-Salem and 2B Ross Heffley was thrown out once that night, otherwise Lynchburg could've had five...They were a perfect 5-for-5 last night...C Kevan Smith was behind the dish last night, while C Martin Medina was playing on June 12...Lynchburg has the fewest steals in the Carolina League with 69...Every other team has at least 93...But, 24 of those steals for Lynchburg are against the Dash, in 32 attempts...

PERSONAL BEST: OF Matt Lipka's three stolen bases Sunday night set a new career-high for the fourth-year pro...A former All-State wide receiver in Texas, Lipka drafted out of high school as a shortstop...His average arm strength but plus-plus speed motivated a move to centerfield prior to the 2012 season...He has stolen 87 bases in his career, but never more than two in a single game...2013 is his third season with 20 or more steals...He was limited to just 51 games in 2012 due to a hamstring injury...At 26 swipes this year, he is two shy of his career-best for a single season, as he stole 28 bases with Low-A Rome in 2011...

DASHING ROHM: OF David Rohm went 3-for-3 last night with a walk and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning...He also stole his fourth base of the season, which set him up to score the game-winning run...On fire recently, Rohm is batting .478 (11-for-23) over his last six games with a double, triple, five RBI, and three runs scored...He is now batting .298, tied for seventh-best in the Carolina League...He also ranks fourth in hits (122), seventh in doubles (28) and second in triples (7)...In 2011, he led all the Braves organization with eight triples...This year he only trails Low-A Rome OF Felix Marte who has eight triples...

STIFLED STREAK: UTL Matt Weaver saw his hitting streak come to an end last night on an 0-for-1 effort after entering the game in the sixth inning for OF Matt Lipka...Weaver drove in the game-winning run Saturday night in the ninth inning...He went 1-for-4 extending his hitting streak to six games matching his longest of the season...His first six-gamer was from May 16-22...He went 8-for-20 with a double, triple, five RBI, and three runs scored...During his current streak, he is 8-for-20 once again, with two doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored...The ‘Cats just played their last game in Wilmington Saturday night where Weaver finished the season there, coincidentally, 8-for-20...

QUALITY AND QUANTITY: LHP Ryan Hinson collected his sixth quality start last night (6ip, 1er) for the Hillcats in six total starts since joining the club...He still just 2-2 as he hasn't been backed up by much run support...In fact his support is a team-low 3.00 runs per game.......

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Braulio Ortiz was signed as an international free agent by the White Sox in July of 2011 when he was 19 years old...Made his professional debut in the Dominican Summer League in 2011...Walked 11 in 8.2 innings...Returned to the DSL in 2012...Made 16 appearances, eight starts...Went 3-3 with a 3.93 ERA and walked only 20 in 50.1 innings...Broke camp in 2013 with Low-A Kannapolis...Started the season in the bullpen collecting three saves and posting a 3.00 ERA in 14 relief outings...Moved to the starting rotation in June...Went 0-3 with a 3.79 in eight starts before getting promoted to Winston-Salem July 18...In three starts for the Dash, he is 0-1 with a 7.43 ERA..He has walked 12 and struck out 13 in 13.1 innings...Tonight will be his first start against the Hillcats...
