Jackson Generals News Release

The Seattle Mariners announced the following roster moves that effects the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx roster. Jaxx RHP Josh Fields has been placed on the 7-Day DL. Fields left the game with tightness in his right forearm during the seventh inning of last night's game with the Tennessee Smokies, after retiring two batters. Fields is 1-1 with a 3.14 ERA with six saves in 21 games this year. Fields is tied for the team lead with fellow reliever Anthony Varvaro in saves and appearances. Josh was the Mariners 1st round pick (20th overall) in the 2008 draft.

Nick Hill has been activated from the disabled list and will take Fields' spot on the roster. Nick has missed 50 games since being placed on the DL on April 18th. Nick made two starts for the Jaxx and was 0-1 with a 15.88 ERA in 5 2/3 innings. Nick was the Diamond Jaxx Co-Pitcher of the Year last year finishing 5-6 with a 3.10 ERA in 2009. Nick is also an active member of the United States Army playing baseball because of the alternative service option.

The moves made prior to tonight's game against the Tennessee Smokies. With only 9 games remaining in the first half, the Jaxx trail the Smokies by 1 1/2 games in the North Division.
