A complete scoring summary is available HERE.
Shawinigan scored first nearly nine minutes into the game when Fitzgerald lofted a pass from the left side of his own zone into neutral ice. The puck hopped past the Saint John defence, sending D'Aoust in alone. The veteran winger rifled a wrist shot past the blocker of Marc-Antoine Turcotte in the Sea Dog goal.
The Cataractes doubled its advantage on the power play six minutes later when Gignac ripped a low shot from the top of the right circle that went through Turcotte's legs.
Saint John cut its deficit in half with a power play goal of its own with eight minutes to go in the second period.
Highmore took a pass on the right side and sent a long wrist shot that deflected off a Shawinigan penalty killer and past the glove of Cataractes' goalie Philippe Cadorette.
The home side regained a two-goal lead on a 4-on-3 man advantage.
Off a faceoff win in the right circle, defenceman Samuel Girard moved toward the middle of the blueline and feathered a pass into the right circle where Beauvillier hammered a one-timer past Turcotte's glove.
Nearly two minutes later, Danny Moynihan carried the puck on the left side of the Saint John zone and had it knocked off his stick into the slot. Yan followed up and whistled a low wrist shot under Turcotte's glove hand.
The Cataractes led 4-1 after two periods.
Penalties continued to haunt Saint John in the final frame.
Beauvillier's second goal of the night came before the seven-minute mark on a two-man advantage.
The Shawinigan captain and New York Islanders' prospect crushed another one-timer from the right circle that beat a helpless Turcotte.
Turcotte was pulled from the game after the goal. He made 26 saves before being relieved by Alex Bishop.
Yan made it a 6-1 game with under seven minutes left, taking a back-door feed off the left side of the crease and burying it into an open cage.
Sylvestre wrapped up the scoring with one more goal on the man advantage.
The blueliner sent a long shot along the ice from the right point that deflected off a Saint John stick and past Bishop's right leg with only six seconds remaining.
Shawinigan went 5-for-12 on the power play in the game.
Cadorette made 26 saves for the win. Turcotte took the loss. Bishop made eight stops in more than 13 minutes of relief.
Beauvillier's two goals and three points made him first star while D'Aoust was named second star with one goal. Fitzgerald took third star with three helpers in front of 4,010 fans in attendance.
