HIGHMORE HAT TRICK HELPS HOGS HALT WILD

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Matthew Highmore struck thrice-one goal in each period-to lift the Rockford IceHogs to a 3-1 victory over the Iowa Wild at the BMO Harris Bank Center Wednesday night.

The win marks Rockford's third consecutive victory and snapped Iowa's five-game winning streak.

Highmore first found twine 4:27 into the game, deflecting a Luc Snuggerud shot past Iowa netminder Niklas Svedberg for an early Rockford lead.

The scoreline remained static for nearly 25 minutes of game time, before Highmore poked in a loose puck to double the Hogs' lead. Luke Johnson assisted on both of Highmore's first two goals.

Rockford added a third goal 15:28 into the final frame, as Highmore danced around the Wild defense and slipped a shot past Svedberg to complete the hat trick. Iowa spoiled the shutout two minutes later, scoring with the goalie pulled, but Rockford's J.F. Berube held strong for the remainder of the game.

Berube finished with 23 saves and earned his first win in six appearances. Svedberg turned aside 37 shots in Iowa's loss.

With tonight's win, the IceHogs now rank 2nd in the Central Division, leapfrogging the Cleveland Monsters.

Next Home Game: The IceHogs host the Iowa Wild on Friday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. Friday's game will feature Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by Burr Pest Control, and the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a free patriotic IceHogs baseball cap.
