Hershey Assigns DeMichiel to Stingrays

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that goaltender Jared DeMichiel has been assigned to the team by the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

DeMichiel dressed in 25 games with the Stingrays this season going 14-9-0 with a .914 save percentage and ranks eighth in the ECHL with a 2.64 goals-against average. The Avon, CT native appeared in five games with the Bears this season going 2-1-0 with a 3.65 GAA and .873 save percentage. Currently in his first professional season, DeMichiel spent four years at the Rochester Institute of Technology going 41-19-2 with a 2.36 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 66 games. He had a career-best 27-10-1 record with a 2.09 GAA and a .921 save percentage during his senior season while leading the Tigers to the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four for the first time in school history. During the tournament, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound netminder earned the NCAA East Region Most Outstanding Player award.
