Hernan Iribarren Named International League Postseason All-Star

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville Bats infielder/outfielder Hernan Iribarren was named to the International League postseason All-Star team, the league announced Tuesday. Iribarren, 32, was named the All-Star Utility Player for his outstanding play at multiple positions. He has played every position on the diamond except for catcher in 2016. He has also pitched three and two-third innings this season for the Bats.
He becomes the first Bat since outfielder Billy Hamilton (2013) to be named a postseason All-Star in the IL. He also joins Aaron Herr (2007) as Bats to be named an All-Star utility player.
He is currently tied for the IL lead in average, .322, and leads the team in hits with 114. His manager, Delino DeShields called Iribarren "a true professional" when told about Iribarren winning the award. "He is a great example to every player, not just the young guys in our clubhouse," said DeShields.
"It feels good [to be named a postseason All-Star]", said Iribarren. "I have to do everything the right way, so when I am talking [to the younger players] and trying to help them develop, they see that I am doing the best I can," he said when asked about being a leader in the Bats clubhouse.
