Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Hens took a 6-3 loss at the hands of the IronPigs on Monday night to kick off their eight-game home stand.

It didn't take long for both teams to start scoring, as the IronPigs lead off with two doubles to take an early 1-0 lead. The Hens responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer off the bat of Ben Guez.

The IronPigs then exploded for four hits and three runs in the third off Andy Oliver. Oliver surrendered back-to-back doubles to allow the IronPigs to jump out to a 4-1 lead. The Hens got one back in the bottom of the inning courtesy of a Ben Guez sacrifice fly to make it 4-2.

The Hens narrowed the deficit again in the sixth when Zach Maggard blasted the first homer of his Triple-A career to make it 4-3. Maggard came on in the fifth to replace Alex Avila who went 0-2 in his rehab debut with the Hens.

The IronPigs loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth and managed two more runs off Chris Bootcheck to give them a 6-3 victory.

Oliver was tagged for the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits through six. He also walked two and struck out four.

Game Notes

Both teams combined for nine extra-base hits. The Hens had four while the IronPigs had five, all of which were doubles.

Brad Eldred sat the bench for the first time in 43 games.

Cale Iorg started and went 1-for-3 in his first game of the year after starting the season on the DL.
