Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Toledo Mud Hens salvaged the finale of the series in Durham, which also snapped a three-game losing skid. The 5-1 win came at a good time as the team heads into a three day break for the All Star Game.

The Toledo bullpen came up huge, throwing the final four frames, allowing just three hits, one walk, and struck out seven Bulls' batters.

Leading the way for the Mud Hens offsense was Tyler Collins, who reached base on all four trips to the plate and was a perfect 3-for-3. He doubled, scored a run, drove in a run, and reached on a walk. JaCoby Jones had a two RBI hit and all but two Hens starters recorded a knock in the contest.

Toledo jumped out in front in the top of the second when Collins drove home Efren Navarro . They added a pair in the third to extend its early lead to 3-0. Jim Adduci drove home Jones on a double to left field and Adduci later scored on a throwing error after successfully stealing third base.

In the top of the fourth, Jones ripped a ground ball single up the middle that brought home Collins and Omar Infante as the Hens went out on top 5-0.

The Bulls finally got to Farmer in the bottom of the fifth to score its only run of the game. Willy Adames singled home Ryan Brett to cut the lead to 5-1, which would be the final score.

Ruben Alaniz pitched the sixth and seventh without allowing a run. He gave up a pair of hits, a walk, but struck out two to keep the lead at four. Kyle Ryan and Joe Jimenez combined to pitch the eighth inning and Jimenez finished the game off in the finish, completing a 1.2 inning save.
