Hellyer Wins Fan Jersey Vote

July 7, 2016 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release

Oakville, ON - Toronto Rock fans have spoken and they have chosen Rob Hellyer's number 10 jersey to hang alongside jerseys of Colin Doyle, Josh Sanderson and Nick Rose in the brand new Toronto Rock themed SmileZone at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Ontario. The grand opening is set for Wednesday, July 27th.

On hand for the opening ceremony from the Toronto Rock will be owner, president and general manager Jamie Dawick, Rose, Sanderson and Doyle.

In early June, fans were asked to vote through torontorock.com and through the official Toronto Rock app and select a fourth jersey to hang alongside those of Doyle, Sanderson and Rose. Garnering over 40% of the vote, Hellyer was the overwhelming choice by the fans.

Also as a part of the fan voting, Catharine Smyth was selected at random as the winner of a classic Toronto Rock music note Rob Hellyer jersey.

During the 2016 season, fans supported the Rock's fundraising efforts in various ways including a live jersey auction, an online auction and the 50/50 draws at Rock home games. The Rock and their fans raised $84,641 to go towards SmileZones at Headwaters Health Care Centre.

The SmileZone Foundation's mission is to create, build and transform areas (zones) in hospitals, private treatment and development centres, and children's clinics, in order to improve the lives of children facing illness, disabilities, and physical and emotional obstacles - ultimately putting a smile on their faces.

The SmileZone Foundation is a registered charity committed to "putting smiles on children's faces." The charity, founded by Adam Graves and Scott Bachly, established the overarching mission of assisting children, and their families, who are facing difficult times and health challenges.
