Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat announced today that 23-year-old goaltender Tyson Sexsmith has been released from his Professional Try-Out (PTO).

Sexsmith was signed to a PTO on Wednesday to back-up Barry Brust following Danny Taylor's signing with the Calgary Flames. Sexsmith had previously accepted a playing contract in Italy with the Bolzano Foxes, and his availability to Abbotsford was always to be limited to Wednesday's game only.

The former Worchester Shark has appeared in 53 AHL games over four professional seasons, and posted 120 regular season wins in junior over five seasons with the Vancouver Giants (WHL). The Mission, BC resident stands as the Giants all-time leader in wins and set Canadian Hockey League and Western Hockey League record in 2008-09 with 26 career shutouts.
