Heat Fall to Stars 3-1 in Teddy Bear Toss

Abbotsford, BC "" The Abbotsford Heat were defeated by the Texas Stars 3-1 at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC) on Friday night.
Danny Taylor stopped 24 of 27 shots and Brady Lamb recorded his first professional goal, but the Heat suffered their third regulation loss in 15 home games this season.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes the Stars scored 5 minutes into the second period. Reilly Smith recorded his sixth goal of the season on the power play.
At 7:08 of the second period the Heat tied the game 1-1 on rookie defenseman Brady Lamb's first goal of the season and first as a member of the Heat. T.J. Brodie and Tyler Ruegsegger earned assists on the goal that gave fans a chance to toss their teddy bears onto the ice.
Later in the second period the Stars scored two goals at even strength to move ahead 3-1. Taylor Vause scored his first of the season and Cody Eakin scored his eighth goal.
Danny Taylor made his 12th start in the 3-1 loss. The Heat were outshot 27-21, despite outshooting the Stars 12-4 in the third period.
Abbotsford killed off six-of-seven Texas power plays, but failed to score on five man-advantage opportunities.
The Heat play the Stars again tomorrow night before heading out on the road to play six games before the New Year. The Heat will play eight home games in January, including games against the Chicago Wolves (AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks) and the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens).
