Heat Fall to Barons in Overtime

ABBOTSFORD, BC "" The Abbotsford Heat extended their home point streak to eight games, but lost in overtime to the Oklahoma City Barons at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC) on Saturday night.

Danny Taylor stopped 32-of-34 shots and was named the game's second star. The Heat have earned at least one point in ten of their eleven games played this season and captured three of four points in the two game series.

After two scoreless periods, the Barons opened the scoring on the power play at 7:46 of the third period. Dustin Sylvester tied the game at 1-1 with 1:45 remaining in regulation to force overtime. Ben Street and Paul Byron earned assists on the goal. The Barons scored the game winner at 1:36 of the overtime period.

Despite outshooting the Barons 19-9 in the third period, the Heat were outshot 34-32 in the game. The Heat failed to score on three power play opportunities and allowed only their second shorthanded goal of the season.
