Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

The Madison Capitols limited the Waterloo Black Hawks' offensive opportunities Friday during a 3-2 matchup at the Alliant Energy Center.

The Hawks played from behind throughout much of the evening, while being limited to 18 shots on goal. Alec Broetzman scored on Madison's first chance of the night at 4:00 of the first period, capitalizing on a low shot. Less than three minutes later, Garrett Wait tied the game, finishing off a Garrett Klee pass from the right wing corner by cutting across the slot and shifting to his backhand to flip the puck into an open side.

However, the Capitols went ahead for good when a rebound was kept alive for Noah Weber to score from the left circle at 9:55. Mick Messner added another tally at 8:07 of the second period, knocking in a shot during a goalmouth scramble.

Shane Bowers brought the Hawks to within one for the remainder of the night, redirecting Chase Pilawski's left point shot with 6:27 to go before intermission.

The Hawks return home on Saturday to host the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a 2016/17 Black Hawks schedule poster presented by Karen's Print Rite. Waterloo will also wear breast cancer awareness jerseys, sponsored by Great Clips. For tickets, call the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680.
