Hawks Hang on for 4-3 Win

Johnstown, Pa - The Johnstown Tomahawks bounced back with a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Titans at 1St Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial.

In the first period, neither team was able to solve their opponent's netminder and the game remained scoreless going into the second period.

3:53 into the second period, Johnstown was able to break the scoreless tie, and make it rain Teddy Bears at 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial. Reagan Wortz scored his first of the season with the assists going to Ben Schmidling and Joe Kile. The Tomahawks would then go up 2-0 when Christian Gorscak put a puck past Titans' goalie, Joe Halstrom. The goal came at 11:37 of the period and Pavel Kharin and Mitchell Hale picked up the assists.

Less than a minute later, at 12:32, Johnstown would score their third goal of the period. This time, Andy Nedeljkovic scored with assists going to Ben Schmidling, his second of the night, and Joe Kile, his second point as well.

The Johnstown Tomahawks took their 3-0 lead into the third period.

In the third period, Gavin Gulash would end the Tomahawks shutout with a goal at 2:40 into the period. The assists went to Matt Cameron and Jimmy Dowd. The Titans would get another goal just over a minute later from Nick Boyagian. It was assisted by Hunter Alden and Chris Garbe at 3:54.

Tomahawks still held the lead the game, 3-2. Johnstown would score an insurance goal while on the power play late in the third period by Donovan Ott, with the assists going to Roman Kraemer and Andy Nedeljkovic at 17:28. The Titans would score a late power play goal with their netminder pulled. Kyle Jeffers scored with the assists going to Ryan Naumovski and Ryan Wheeler at 19:49.

Johnstown was able to hold off the Titans for the last eleven seconds, giving the Tomahawks the 4-3 win. In the win, Kade Phipps picked up his first win with the Tomahawks turning away 26 of 29 shots he faced in the game.
