Havoc Score in Each Period to Shut Out

HUNTSVILLE, AL NOV. 4, 2016 - The Havoc register the 3-0 win against the Columbus Cottonmouths at the Von Braun Center thanks to a goal in each period.

"We talked about the start was going to be huge for us," said coach Glenn Detulleo. "The first ten minutes was big for us to just set the tone and from there we just felt as the game went on we took over." For the fourth time in first five on the year the Havoc scored the game's first goal, this time with one on the power play. John Lidgett picked up his second of the year for the Havoc with a shot 11:07 into the opening frame. It was just the second time this season the team did not score within the first five minutes of the game. Huntsville now has man-advantage goals in four of five.

In the second, Nolan Kaiser walked into the offensive zone put on the brakes and threw one over top of Brandon Jaeger's glove for his first of the year. The goal unassisted 2:47 into the middle frame gave the Havoc a two-goal leading heading into the third.

With the Cottonmouths 0-2 on the year when trailing after 40 minutes of play, the Havoc came back for the third with speed. Late in the frame, After multiple passes and rebounds in front of the Cottonmouths cage, Stuart Stefan found a loose puck and fired it over the blocker side for the third and final goal of the game.

"Steel was there to make the saves when need," said coach Detulleo. "Guys did an excellent job in front of him to make it as easy as possible and at the end of the day it was a good team win."

Tyler Steel in his first professional start of his career registered a shutout stopping all 24 shots faced. He becomes the second goaltender in last three years to register a shutout in his first professional game with the Havoc. Kevin Genoe registered a shutout against Fayetteville on October 26th, 2013.

"The feeling is unexplainable," said goaltender Tyler Steel. "It was real exciting to get out there and to get a feel for the puck early on and get comfortable."

Honorable Mentions

Stuart Stefan with his first goal of the season now has points in three of first five.

Sy Nutkevitch registered two assists on the night and now has points in three straight including two multi-point games. Nutkevitch now has points in four of first five on the year.

Dylan Nowakowski tallied an assist on the John Lidgett's power play goal and now has assists in three straight and four of first five.

The Havoc have scored in all 15 periods played on the 2016-17 season. The second period the Havoc registered 17 shots on net the most in one period on the year.

Next up for the Havoc the team will travel to Virginia to take on the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs Saturday night with all the action on the Hunstville Havoc Radio Network and SPHL Live starting at 6 p.m. CT.
