Havoc Reveal 2017-18 Season Opening Roster

October 19, 2017 - SPHL (SPHL) - Huntsville Havoc News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc General Manager and Head Coach Glenn Detulleo announced the season opening roster today as the club prepares to open the 2017-2018 season against the Macon Mayhem in Georgia.

While returning only six players from last year's playoff team, the Havoc roster sports a deep list of talented rookies and veterans as the team enters its 14th year as a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

"We're excited to finally get the regular season started," said Detulleo. "We feel there is the potential for this group to have an incredible season. Our returning core of players will mesh well with the new faces to make an exciting team our fans can rally around."

The forwards are anchored by Havoc veteran Sy Nutkevitch, who led the team with 50 points last season. Other returning Havoc forwards include Christian Powers and Kyle Sharkey. Nick Lazorko returns to the Havoc after playing for the club a few years ago. He spent last season playing with the Leipzig Icefighters in Germany. The Havoc led the league in goals per game last year and hope to continue that performance with the addition of Shawn Bates who played last season with the Tulsa Oilers in the ECHL, but will start this season on injured reserve.

A handful of talented rookie forwards also join the squad in the form of Jack Ceglarski (SUNY-Geneseo), Tyler Piacentini (Norwich University), Danny Smith (RIT), Alex Botten (SUNY-Oswego), Shane Topf (Neumann University), and Scott Trask (Acadia University).

On the defensive side, player/assistant coach Stuart Stefan and veterans Nolan Kaiser and Andy Willigar return for another run at the SPHL President's Cup with the Havoc. They are joined by rookie defensemen Peter Sikalis (Saint Anselm College), Derek Perl (Marian University) and Cody Smith (Norwich University).

Between the pipes, the Havoc welcome goaltenders Keegan Asmundson and Mike DeLaVergne. Asmundson spent last season in Germany playing for Löwen Frankfurt (Frankfurt Lions) and saw playing time with the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the SPHL two seasons ago. DeLaVergne goaltended briefly for the Macon Mayhem at the end of last season after graduating from Buffalo State College.

The Havoc start the regular season on the road against defending SPHL President's Cup champions, the Macon Mayhem on Oct. 21. On Tuesday, Oct. 24, the Havoc will host a "Meet the Team" party, featuring free food and drinks and a chance to meet the players before picking up season ticket books.

Huntsville plays two additional games on the road before starting the home campaign Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. against the Fayetteville Marksmen. On that Friday, the first 2,000 fans will receive a magnetic schedule courtesy of Huntsville Hospital Sports Center and TOC Sports. The team is also offering an opening night "Family 4 Pack." Fans can go to the Havoc office to purchase four general admission tickets, four sodas and a large popcorn for only $40.

Single-game tickets are on sale now at ticketmaster.com or at the Von Braun Center box office.
