Hatcher Drives in Five as Suns Blank Smokies

Kodak, Tenn. - Chris Hatcher delivered five RBI, Michael Stanton belted his first homerun since May 10 and the pitching staff faced one over the minimum in a two-hit shutout leading the Jacksonville Suns (27-14) to a 7-0 victory over the Tennessee Smokies (25-17) in front of 4,394 Friday night at Smokies Park.

Tom Koehler (5-0) allowed only a third inning double and sixth inning single in seven scoreless innings for the winning decision. Smokies starter Craig Muschko (2-1) fell in the losing decision, allowing five earned runs and seven hits over five innings of work.

Michael Stanton followed an Ozzie Martinez single with a two-run homerun in the fourth inning to open the scoring at 2-0, his first homerun since May 10. Later in the inning, catcher Chris Hatcher delivered a three-run homerun with two out, bringing the Suns lead to 5-0.

Hatcher struck again in the sixth inning against Tennessee reliever Alex Maestri with a RBI single, extending the Suns lead to 6-0.

The Suns catcher added a fifth RBI in the eighth inning on a double against Smokies left hander Jeremy Papelbon for a 7-0 score.
