Hatch Haunts Lugnuts in 6-4 Loss

MIDLAND, Mich. - Former Lugnut Anthony Hatch supplied a two-out go-ahead RBI triple, sending the Great Lakes Loons (40-29) to their tenth consecutive victory, 6-4, over the Lansing Lugnuts on Saturday night at Dow Diamond.

A stadium-record crowd of 5,887 saw their Loons blow leads of 1-0 and 4-1 to the Lugnuts before Hatch's seventh inning triple off of reliever Ryan Koch (2-5) gave Great Lakes a lead they would not relinquish.

Luis Garcia (4-1) earned the victory, relieving top prospect Ethan Martin and stranding the bases loaded for the Lugnuts in the top of the seventh inning. Lansing had previously tied the score in the frame on a Justin McClanahan home run, a run-scoring wild pitch, and a Chris House sacrifice fly.

A Yorman Mayora throwing error gave the Loons an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth.

Javy Guerra recorded the final six outs for his 16th save of the season.

In the losing cause, Chris Emanuele went 4-for-5 with a run scored while Tyler Pastornicky went 1-for-4 with a walk and his 29th and 30th stolen bases of the season.

Lugnuts starter Jonas Cuotto took a no-decision, allowing four runs on nine hits (including home runs from Nick Buss and Alfredo Silverio) over five innings of work.

The Lugnuts and Loons play the final game in their four-game series as well the final game of the first half of the Midwest League season on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Lansing right-hander Henderson Alvarez (4-5, 3.88) gets the start against Great Lakes right-hander Justin Miller (3-2, 4.29).
