Harrisburg Senators game notes

Harrisburg Senators News Release

Today's Game... The Senators look for their first road series win tonight against New Hampshire. After having lost on Friday night in walk-off fashion, the Senators have come back with wins the past two afternoons and tonight look for their third road win in a row. To do so, they send LHP David Maust to the mound and LHP Davis Romero for the Fisher Cats. After tonight's game the Senators will move on to New Britain for four games beginning Tuesday night.

Last Time Out... The Senators came up with a big two-out no one on base rally in the ninth to defeat New Hampshire 8-6. It was the first time this season the Senators had won a game when trailing into the ninth inning on the road. After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Sens rallied for a run in the second and two in the third to tie the game. They again fell behind heading into the sixth inning when Josh Whitesell hit a two-run home run to put the Sens on top 5-4. But in the bottom of the seventh inning, Adam Lind hit a two-run home run for the Fisher Cats to put the 'Cats on top 6-5. It stayed 6-5 into the ninth when with two outs Melvin Dorta singled and after he stole second base, Dan DeMent unloaded on a 3-1 pitch driving out of the ballpark to give the Sens the lead. Kory Casto followed up DeMent's home run by hitting one of his own to put the Senators up 8-6. Roy Corcoran pitched a scoreless ninth for his league leading 15th save of the season.

Walk Off's... The Senators have enjoyed four walk-off wins at home this season. With two of their three wins against Akron over the weekend coming in walk-off fashion.

Double Dips... After not winning a game last year in any of the four doubleheader's they participated in, the Senators are now 4-2 this season. The doubleheader sweep of Akron was their first doubleheader sweep since August 5, 2004 when they took two from Reading.

Heading to DC... When Alex Escobar was called up to the Nationals over the weekend he became the third Senators player in the past two seasons to go directly from Harrisburg to Washington. Last year Ryan Zimmerman and Darrell Rasner went directly to the Nationals.

Road Trip... The Senators are playing the fourth game of an 11-game, 10-day road trip. This is the longest road trip of the season, and the longest trip since the 2002 season. The Senators will also play their first day/night doubleheader in several seasons on this road trip. Because of a rain-out earlier this season in New Britain, the Senators will play two games in New Britain on Wednesday.
