Hargrove's Two Goals Defeat Falcons, 4-3

PROVIDENCE, RI- Colton Hargrove (2-1-3) and Austin Czarnik (0-3-3) both had three points on the night, while Alexander Khokhlachev and Matt Irwin each had a goal an an assist in tonight's 4-3 victory over the Falcons. The Providence power play was 3 for 6 on the night.

Springfield got on the board midway through the first period when Greg Carey notched his 11th goal of the season - a team high. Jeffrey passed to Carey from behind the net whose one timer went top shelf on Zane McIntyre. McIntyre started in net and played the first 13:58 of the period before being relieved by Malcolm Subban who had experienced equipments difficulty moments before puck drop.

Irwin evened things up 14:43 into the period on the P-Bruins third power play opportunity of the game. His blast from the left point flew past Anton Blidh screening in from of Treutle. This marked Irwin's third goal, second power play goal of the season. Czarnik and Khohklachev picked up the helpers.

With 9.9 seconds left in the first, the Springfield Falcons had a goal disallowed as it was batted in with a high stick.

Hargrove gave the P-Bruins their first lead of the game 2:20 into the second period. Zack Phillips zipped the puck to Hargrove who fired a shot from the left face off dot over a sprawling Treutle.

Selleck responded 5 minute later when his solo effort resulted in a low blocker side goal.

Hargrove wasn't happy with the lead being taken away and struck back with another go-ahead goal. When Springfield's Jeffrey headed to the box for slashing, the AHL's 4th ranked power play unit headed to the ice. At 14:57 on the clock, A. Czarnik fed the puck to Hargrove who streaked down the right wing and released a wrist shot that sniped the far side post. This was Hargroves 6th goal of the season.

With 3:00 left in the second stanza, Robbie Czarnik was issued a 4 minutes double minor penalty for high sticking. R. Czarnik, cousins with centerman sensation Austin Czarnik, suited up for his first game as a P-Bruin.

Khokhlachev scored the eventual game winner 12:42 into the third period. A. Czarnik drop passed to Hargrove who crossed the puck in front of the crease where Koko was waiting to finish it. Just 0:26 after Koko's power play goal, Springfield's Grant responded with a goal of his own.

Subban made 34 saves on 36 shots on the night, including withstanding an absolute blitzkrieg from the Falcons in the last two minutes of the game.

This marked the Providence's Bruins 6th game against the Springfield Falcons during the 2015-16 season. The P-Bruins boast a 4-2 record against the Falcons and a goal differential of 21-15.

The P-Bruins look to extend a home streak this Sunday January 3rd in a matchup against the Rochester Americans.
