Hammerheads Under New Ownership
Wilmington, NC - The Wilmington Hammerheads officially announced today that the club has acquired new ownership George Altirs, CEO at Capelli New York, as majority owner.
Altirs is co-founder of GMA Accessories Inc., the parent company of Capelli New York and GMA Shanghai Company Ltd. GMA Accessories Inc. is a manufacturer and importer of apparel, footwear and fashion accessories for women and children.
"The opportunity to partner with Bill Rudisill and the Wilmington Hammerheads brings exciting possibilities," said Altirs. "The Wilmington Hammerheads is a club with great tradition and history through its active years. I am looking forward to becoming involved within the Wilmington community and helping with the continued development of the Wilmington Hammerheads both on and off the field."
Former majority owner, Bill Rudisill, will step down to become a minority owner within the Wilmington Hammerheads organization after being involved with ownership of the team for 13 years. Rudisill will be the only member of former ownership returning to the Hammerheads.
"I am excited, yet emotional, to sell the club and take a lesser ownership role," said Rudisill. "As a minority owner I will continue my involvement with the club as in the past, but with a smaller financial stake. I wanted the right person to come along for the Hammerheads. After talking with George (Altirs) over the last few weeks, I believe the Hammerheads have a very bright and promising future. George, I feel, will continue with great success."
All current front office staff will continue to run the day-to-day business of the team.
