Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC announce the addition of forward Kyle Parker for their 20th anniversary season.
Parker joins the Hammerheads after an impressive college career playing with UNC Charlotte. He led the 49ers to two appearances in the Conference USA Tournament, winning the tournament in 2013. He also played a major role in his team earning a national seed in the NCAA tournament in 2013 and 2014. During his four seasons with Charlotte, the 5'10 striker was awarded the Conference USA Golden Boot twice and led the conference in goals scored. Parker was named NSCAA All-American team and Conference USA MVP in his senior year.
"I'm excited about this opportunity the Wilmington Hammerheads have given me," said Parker. "I've heard great things about the club and how the community supports the team, which is what you want to hear as a player. Coming in as a new guy, you have to work hard to earn the respect of your teammates and that's what I plan to do. I'm looking forward to a successful year with the club under head coach Mark Briggs."
Head coach Mark Briggs added, "I believe Kyle will bring a lot of influence to our forward lineup. Throughout his career, he's proven to be a young, driven, and talented athlete. We are excited he's joined the team!"
