York Revolution News Release

(York, Pa.) - Four home runs were more than enough for the York Revolution as the Revs won their second straight over the Sugar Land Skeeters 8-4 on Saturday night at PeoplesBank Park. The Revs will go for a series win on Sunday afternoon in the finale against Sugar Land.

The fifth inning proved to be the bellweather for the Revs (5-5) for the second straight night. Down 3-2, Andres Perez led off with a walk. Telvin Nash followed by walloping a 1-2 pitch over the Arch Nemesis to give York the lead. Three batters later, James L. Simmons hit a laser to just left of center that cleared the fence, chasing Skeeters (5-5) starter Bryan Morgado and making it 5-3.

The power surge continued into the sixth as Josh Wilson blasted a solo shot over the Nemesis for his second home run of the season. After a Perez single and a popout, Joel Guzman took aim for the moon and almost got there with a two-run round-tripper, once again over the Nemesis, to make it 8-3.

The run support was enough for James Simmons, who turned in his second straight quality start en route to the "W". Simmons allowed three runs on six hits in six innings of work, walking one, hitting another, and striking out five on 99 pitches. He capped his night with an emphatic punchout of former Rev Johan Limonta to end the sixth.

Morgado (0-2) took the loss after allowing five runs on eight hits in 4.2 frames.

Reliever Beau Vaughan made his presence known in the seventh as the Revs' all-time ERA leader boosted his total by striking out the side.

The Skeeters made it interesting in the eighth, scoring twice on a solo home run by Rick Hague and a bases-loaded walk. With one down and runners everywhere, closer Mike DeMark came on and induced a crucial 6-4-3 double play to retire Patrick Palmeiro and get out of the jam.

DeMark went through Sugar Land in the ninth 1-2-3, striking out Hague to end it and send the season-high crowd of 3,982 home happy.

Sugar Land opened the game on a sour note as Jeff Dominguez hit a leadoff home run. York took the lead for the first time in the third as Perez hit a sac fly to center to score Jason Repko. Bryan Pounds singled home another to make it 2-1 for the home side.

The Skeeters nibbled off a run in the fourth and fifth innings as Delwyn Young led off the fourth with a single and eventually scored on a Palmeiro base knock. Dominguez launched a second solo home run in the fifth to put Sugar Land back up 3-2 and set up the eventful bottom of the fifth.

Repko, Wilson, Perez, and Simmons paced the Rev attack with two hits apiece as York eclipsed double-digit hits for the second straight night. Nash and Guzman each drove in a pair.

Dominguez went 3-for-5 with his two homers, and Hague also picked up two hits.
