Hamister Brings af2 to Cincinnati

(BUFFALO, NY) – Buffalo businessman and CEO of North American Sports Mark Hamister announced today he has founded an arenafootball2 team to play in Cincinnati, Ohio for 2003. The team will kickoff in April 2003 at the US Bank Arena.

"We are excited to bring the hard hitting, action packed game of Arena Football to Cincinnati," Hamister said. "Cincinnati is a great sports town with a special love for football. The indoor game of Arena Football provides high scoring, up close and personal experiences for our fans. It also provides interaction with our players after games and a total entertainment experience which is both affordable and fun for families and die hard football fans alike. We are particularly pleased with our partnership with Netherlander Entertainment and the US Bank Arena. Everyone at North American Sports is committed to bringing a quality organization to Cincinnati.”

Hamister is the owner and CEO of the Buffalo Destroyers of the Arena Football League and the Rochester Brigade of the af2. Hamister is also the owner and CEO of the Hamister Group of Companies which includes National Health Care Affiliates, The Medlink Group, The Heights Group, Hamister Development Company, Premier Self Storage and North American Sports.

“We’re excited to be bringing our helmet-popping brand of Hometown Football to fans of Cincinnati,” af2 Executive Director Jay Marcus stated. “Mark is a proven winner in Arena Football and I’m confident he will succeed in this effort.”

The team's colors, logos, uniforms and helmets will be unveiled in the weeks to come.

af2 serves as a developmental league for players, coaches and officials with teams in small- to mid-size markets throughout the United States. The 2002 ArenaCup Playoffs begin the first weekend of August, culminating with the ArenaCup Championship Game (presented by Built Ford Tough) on Friday, August 23, with a possible shift to August 22, depending on the site of the game.
