Here is a look at some of the community events that the Hamilton Bulldogs and Bulldogs Foundation have been involved with recently.

RIDE Program

The Hamilton Bulldogs and the Hamilton Police held a press conference on Friday, December 10th to announce that the organizations have teamed up to commit to reduce impaired driving. The Hamilton Police will be giving out vouchers to drivers who successfully complete RIDE lanes. The vouchers can be turned into the Copps Coliseum box office for one free admission ticket to one of six upcoming Bulldogs games.

Children's Aid Society

The Bulldogs Foundation recently held the "My Favourite Things" raffle where fans had a chance to win individual gift baskets that were created by each player and consist of that player's favourite items. All the money raised from the raffle will be donated to the Children's Aid Society, which will then purchase Christmas presents for four families in need.

Skate with the Bulldogs

The Hamilton Bulldogs and Bulldogs Foundation, in association with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Walter Gretzky and Hamilton Minor Hockey, held their third annual ‘Skate with the Bulldogs' on Sunday, December 12th at Copps Coliseum. Registered Bulldogs fans and minor hockey players took to the ice for a skate and autograph session with the ‘Dogs players. The event raised approximately $20,000 for minor hockey league programs in Hamilton as well as CNIB Hamilton.

McMaster Children's Hospital Christmas Visit

The Bulldogs made their annual McMaster Children's Hospital visit on Monday, December 6th. The players interacted with the children, signing autographs and giving out gifts, and also made special visits to the children who were unable to leave their rooms. The players also sang Christmas songs to the children including ‘Jingle Bells' and ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer'.

Raising the Roof

The Raising the Roof Toque Campaign was launched on Tuesday, December 7th with a press conference at Mountain Secondary School. The press conference announced that stylish black toques with a snowflake design are being sold to support Wesley Youth Housing, Wesley Centre in Hamilton and agencies across Canada that are working on long-term solutions addressing homelessness nation-wide. Derek Wills, who is the Honorary Chair of ‘Raising the Roof', was the MC for the press conference while Bruiser attended as well to help with the festivities.

Dawgs Breakfast

The Hamilton Bulldogs and Bulldogs Foundation in conjunction with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board announced on November 30th the launch of the Dawgs Breakfast Program. The program will provide breakfast to over 1,500 students who attend Barton Secondary School, Bennetto Elementary School and Parkview Secondary School. With support from The Grocery Foundation and Quaker, a Divison of PepsiCo Foods Canada, the Bulldogs Foundation is committing $225,000 in cash or kind to the program over the next three years. On November 30th at a press conference held at Bennetto Elementary School, The Bulldogs Foundation presented a $10,000 cheque to each of the three schools to begin the program.

Toy Toss

The ‘Dogs held their 13th annual stuffed toy toss at their game on December 4th against the Chicago Wolves. The Bulldogs were defeated 2-1 in the game but collected over 2,000 toys that were thrown to the ice following Max Pacioretty's third period goal. The toys will now be donated to local charities including Children's Aid Society of Hamilton, Interval House of Hamilton, the Salvation Army and other charitable groups in the Hamilton area for distribution to families in need for Christmas.

Bulldogs Foundation Initiatives

From now until December 30th, fans can purchase raffle tickets to enter into a draw for a chance to win a game-used Bulldogs camouflage jersey from the November 13th ‘Salute the Troops' game played at Copps Coliseum. Ticket prices are the following: 1 for $3, 5 for $10 or 20 for $20. All proceeds will go to the Bulldogs Foundation.

Bruiser Out and About

Bruiser attended a school assembly at R.A. Riddell School to help kick-off their Bulldogs ticket sales fundraiser on Wednesday, December 1st. Bruiser also attended the Hamilton Police's Project Concern Christmas Party which was held at Carmen's Banquet Centre on Monday, December 6th. The party is a Christmas charity function that supports Hamilton's inner city kids. Bruiser attended the Cathy Wever School Christmas Lunch today. The Rotary Club of Hamilton puts on a Christmas feast for the school with The Rotary Club, Hamilton Police Department and Hamilton Fire Fighters on hand to serve food.

Sunday, December 19th – Breakfast with Santa in support of the Good Shepherd's Christmas Program and Food Share at the Leander Boat Club

Sunday, December 19th – Arcelormittal Dofasco Annual Employee Christmas Party at the Dofasco Recreation Centre

Sunday, December 19th – Good Shepherd Community Christmas Dinner at the Hamilton Convention Centre

The ‘Dogs begin a five-game road trip on Friday, December 17th when they travel to Oklahoma City to battle the Barons for a 7:05 p.m. EST match-up. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
