Guzman Homers, But Riders Edged by Hounds in Extras
June 22, 2016 - Texas League (TL1) - Frisco RoughRiders News Release
MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, played their second extra-inning game of a four-game series in Midland, but ultimately fell 2-1 to the RockHounds in 10 innings Wednesday night at Security Bank Ballpark.
The Riders (1-1 second half, 39-32 overall) scored their lone run on Ronald Guzman's solo home run to left field in the top of the fourth. Guzman has the second-highest total on the team with 10 home runs, all solo shots.
With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 10th, Midland (1-1, 34-38) loaded the bases with a trio of walks against Ryne Slack (2-3) with no outs. Jason Richman entered the game and recorded the first out, but issued a four-pitch walk to Josh Rodriguez that allowed Brett Vertigan to score the winning run.
For the first time in six starts as a RoughRider, Yohander Mendez did not make it through five frames. The southpaw departed the game after 4 2/3 innings, after giving up the tying run on Viosergy Rosa's two-out RBI single. He allowed the one on five hits in a no-decision. David Perez and John Fasola combined to keep Midland off the board through the ninth and force extra innings.

Righty Luis Ortiz (1-3, 3.04 ERA) is scheduled to start for Frisco against Kyle Smith (1-5, 5.89 ERA).
