On the game

Any time you come out and take a penalty that early, a minute and a half into the game, they get just a hard-working goal on their power play, bang-bang on a rebound. Then we get beat wide with speed, it's in our net. The third one was a crazy one, I still don't know how that ended up in our net. It looked like it might have went in off the netting or even in off the glass. No fault of our goaltender but I felt we needed to slow the game down and get Kevin (Boyle) in there. We need more from a lot of players and unfortunately right now, the way our lineup is structured, our best players have to be our best players every night or the percentages are going to go against us. That being said, the guys that we don't rely on all the nights, they need to up their games. This is a critical time for this hockey team and these games are not going to get any easier.

On missed opportunity

It's something we have pounded home here the last few days, that's the upsetting thing. All we have talked about is pucks to the net, pucks to the net, and if you are doing that you are usually able to recover rebounds. For whatever reason we are a second late shooting it or we look for the extra pass. It's not working and maybe tonight seeing it not working again will solidify and remind us that we have to play a certain way to be successful, and for whatever reason we are making choices that are shooting ourselves in the foot.

On looking for contributions in other parts of the lineup

The system got shocked last game. We talked about it, we practiced and we went through video. I felt good coming into this game. I thought we were very, very prepared. We went out there and it's like I said before, our best players don't have the luxury of taking an off night and that's unfortunate, but that's our circumstance. The players that haven't had as much ice this year, this is your time. You wanted to play, you thought you could make a difference, it's time to go now.
