Roanoke Dazzle News Release

ROANOKE, Va., Mar. 18 - Anthony Grundy scored a game-high 22 points to break the D-League Single Season Scoring Record, and lead the Roanoke Dazzle to an 84-77 victory over the Austin Toros at the Roanoke Civic Center.

Grundy entered the game with 952 points this season and needed just four points to break the old record of 955 points previously held by Nate Johnson of the Columbus Riverdragons. Grundy scored the Dazzle's first five points and broke the record with a deep three-pointer. For the season Grundy now sits at 974 points.

For the second night in a row the Dazzle defense stepped up and limited the Toros to a new season low point output of 77 points. The Toros previous low was 80 points which they recorded the night before against these same Dazzle.

Despite shooting just 34.8 percent from the field, the Toros, due to a 11 point edge in second chance points, were able to mount multiple rallies throughout the game just when it looked as though the Dazzle were about to run away with the game.

The Dazzle led by a mere three points with a 1:14 left in the game after having an early 15 point lead in the fourth quarter.

Toros guard Ramel Curry, who had 16 points in the contest, had a chance to tie the game but his three-point shot came up short.

Grundy responded just 20 seconds later by hitting a dagger three-pointer to give the Dazzle some breathing room. The Dazzle would hit their free-throws down the stretch to ice the victory.

For the game the Dazzle had five players score in double figures including three with double-doubles. Grundy's 22 points led the way to go along with a game-high eight assists, Seth Doliboa dropped in 18, P.J. Ramos had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Bryant Matthews had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Isiah Victor had his second straight double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Toros had three players reach double figures in scoring with Derrick Zimmerman leading the way with 20, Curry had 16 points and Jamar Smith put up a double-double with 13 points to go with a game-high 16 rebounds. Jeff Hagen pulled down 14 boards for the Toros.

With the win the Dazzle climb to 22-20 on the season and will next head to Florida to take on the Flame in a pair of games next Friday and Saturday.

The Toros' loss drops them to 20-20 on the season. They will head home to host the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on Tuesday night.
