January 22, 2003 - NBA G League (G League)
Greenville Groove News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 21, 2003) - With Speed Week and the start of another NASCAR season right around the corner, the Greenville Groove of the National Basketball Development League will give basketball and racing fans an opportunity to mix their passions Wednesday at the Bi-Lo Center.

Thirty lucky fans will be invited to an exclusive "Meet and Greet" with NASCAR veteran Geoffrey Bodine at halftime of the Groove's home game against the rival North Charleston Lowgators. Tipoff for NBDL action is 7 p.m.

To qualify to meet Bodine, fans can sign up at the Fan Accommodations Table inside the Rotunda Entrance at the Bi-Lo Center. Thirty names will be drawn and the winners escorted to meet Bodine for a private autograph session in a meeting room off the concourse of the arena.

Bodine began racing in NASCAR's Winston Cup Series in 1979. He won the NASCAR Rookie of the Year title in 1982. His racing accomplishments also include a 1986 Daytona 500 win, the International Race of Champions title in 1987 and a career-best NASCAR Winston Cup Series championship finish of third in 1990. In 1994, he won the Winston Select, NASCAR's all-star event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, along with the Bud Pole Award, for winning the most pole positions during the season.

Tickets for the Groove game against the Lowgators can be purchased for as little as $8. Children 14-and-under are admitted for $5 at every Greenville Groove game.

Greenville comes into the game with a 14-12 record, one game behind league-leading Fayetteville. North Charleston is 13-14. The Groove and the Lowgators, who met in the NBDL Finals last year, have split two meetings this season.
