Groove Avenges Early Season Loss To Lowgators In Overtime Victory

Greenville, SC – Donald Hand led the Greenville Groove in scoring with 23 points in the 95-94 overtime victory over the N. Charleston Lowgators on Friday, December 13th at the BI-LO Center. Greenville won their second overtime victory of the season. The Groove’s first overtime win came over the Huntsville Flight on November 29th. With the triumph tonight, the Groove advances to 7-5, while N. Charleston falls to 6-7.

Donald Hand was named the Greenville Groove Player-of-the-Game. He had 23 points, five assists, and three steals. Hand shot 6 of 12 from the field, and went 9 of 9 from the free throw line.

Greenville had five players with double figure games, the twelfth consecutive game with at least three players in double digits. Donald Hand (23 points), Fred Williams (17 points), Billy Thomas (14 points), Kevin Lyde (12 points), and Brandon Kurtz (12 points) all had double scoring games.

Sedric Webber and Corey Benjamin each had 19 points to lead the Lowgators. Webber went 8 of 13 from the field and had six rebounds. Benjamin went 7 of 13 and had three rebounds. N. Charleston was led in rebounding by Peter Cornell who had ten rebounds and 13 points, the only double-double of the night.

The game was tied 15 times. There were also 15 lead changes. The largest lead by Greenville was teb points, while the biggest lead for N. Charleston was only five points.

Greenville shot 43.4 percent (36-83) from the field, 23.5 (4-17) percent from the three-point arc, and 90.5 (19-21) from the line. N. Charleston shot 52.2 percent, going 36 of 60, 28.6 percent (2-7) from the three-point line, and 60.6 percent (20-33) from the line.
