Grizzlies lose season-opener in Phoenix 4-2

Phoenix, Arizona - The Grizzlies opened up the 2007-2008 season tonight but fell 4-2 to the Roadrunners.

The Grizzlies opened up the first period of the season in Phoenix surrendering a 1-0 lead, 13:19 into the period. Thatcher Bell fired home the shot from the top of the right circle past Brett Jaeger.

Utah came out strong in the second, tying the score at one with Justin Bourne's first of the season, from the slot, getting the assists were, Scott Ford and D.J. Jelitto. Less than ten minutes later Christian Gaudet got the Grizzlies their first lead of the year with his first goal from Scott Burt and Travis Rycroft. Phoenix though, answered back just over two minutes later with a 5-on-3 power play goal by Justin Maiser.

Phoenix came out and took a one-goal lead just under seven minutes into the 3rd with a snap shot goal from Sean O'Connor. Then with under five minutes left in the game Daniel Sisca beat Brett Jaeger one-on-one shorthanded to seal Phoenix's victory.

Brett Jaeger stopped 29 or 33 shots in the loss.

The Grizzlies and RoadRunners meet again Saturday and Sunday at US Airways Center. Saturday's face-off is scheduled for 8:11 p.m.

Utah's home opening weekend is Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27 when they will host Idaho at the E-Center. All Grizzlies home games start at 7:05 p.m.
